How the latest AMD processor is changing the game of processors!
AMD’s recent release includes the A4, A6, and A8 or llano APU. All these new CPUs come with an integrated graphics processer right into the CPU itself. The A4 series starts off with a power consumption of 65 watts and it comes with 2 cores. Clock speed ranging from 2.5 Ghz to 2.7 Ghz. The graphics processor inside is a Radeon HD 6410D. The A6 series runs a little higher at 100 watts but that’s understandable considering it runs 4 cores which start at 2.1Ghz and can jump to 2.6 Ghz out of the box. The A6 series also has a A6-3500 which also comes with a core disabled, running at 65 watts. The graphics processor this series uses is the Radeon 6530D. The best performing series is the A8 which runs at 100 watts, and up to 2.9 Ghz out of the box. This line features 2 CPUs which both come with 4 cores and the graphics processors are Radeon HD6550D.

As you can see from the screen shot this is a picture of the 3800 which is running at 2.4Ghz, this is one of the A8 series CPUs. You can also see it says with Radeon D Graphics. The CPU is infact 32 nm, which obviously dispenses less heat than a 45 nm chip ( like some of those older quad cores from intel ).

How the latest AMD processor compares to other apu competitors
As you can see from the 3D Mark 2006 test the A8 ends up being last, this is no surprise due to the test being only CPU performance. Meaning it didn’t check the gpu performance. I still however like to show this test due to the real world application, you won’t be using the GPU as much when you’re not gaming.
Now I know you’re dying to see some game testing so that’s what I’m gonna show you, we’re going to be using FarCry 2 because it’s still intense on graphics of latest AMD processor.

the AMD A series seems to hold up well in the game and mind you thi CPU/APU will most likely be using in energy efficient laptops and desktops. It’s nice to know you can still pull up FarCry 2 and play fairly well on an inexpensive machine. Overall I see this CPU killing on netbooks or for people who are on a tight budget, but they can’t comepete with Intel just yet. This is why the amd a4 a6 a8 gpu in a cpu is changing the game!
